Essex Countryside Tour - Thursday 25 June 2009

9am Meet your coach and guide on Queen's Road in Cambridge (at the official coach pick-up point).

Drive to the south of Cambridge and discover a gentle, rolling landscape. First visit of the day is to Audley End House, one of the finest Jacobean mansions in England. You will be guided around the house, with its magnificent collections and also see the recently restored Victorian gardens.

Lunch will be in an olde worlde pub in a picturesque setting - thatched houses, cottage gardens, a stream running by the main street... the quintessential English village!

After lunch it is a short drive to the historic market town of Saffron Walden. Following a walking tour to visit the church and view some of the elaborately plastered buildings there will be some free time to wander around some of the town's renowned antique shops.

At the end of this tour you will begin to realise why, in a recent nationwide poll, this area of north Essex was voted the best place to live in the UK!

Back to Queen's Road, Cambridge by 5pm.
